i have searched this but nothing has came up that can help.i am planning to paint my gun with a navy camo.however i don't know to paint the camo in blotches.do i paint one color on one layer then spray blotches of another on the next layer then repeat?or do i just spray blotches and mix the paint in one layer and repeat that?

Depends.

I'd spray one layer of one color then let it dry. Repeat this.

Then, I'd add the blotches you want. Let it dry and do whatever other blotches of varying colors you want. Then put a clear coat over it (several layers) to protect the paint job.

Well Ive never done it but this would be my guess, first do all of the prep obviously then just paint a base color such as the darkest color and paint the whole gun, then start painting lighter colors in blotches but be very carefull b/c just a little per coat should be fine, Ive made the mistake of having the paint seep down the side which took me a long time to fix but anyway I would get some of your gear if u have any to match it too and u should be fine, plus theres an old article on this like a while back, good luck

I would just get some camo tape...I believe they sell it at walmarts.
