i have tried the mod where you shorten the travel on my A-5, it did not always reset so away it went, now i have a rt and i think ill try it again.

i also preformed the sear travle mod on my dads model 98 a while back, man i wish they made double triggers for those cause that would be sweet, its soooo much faster now.

as for messing with the sear spring, when you have less area catching the bolt and its doing that slower, at high rof or with strong drive spring, i wouldnt do that. weakening the sear just doesnt seem like a good idea to me, i will not touch my sear spring until i get confirmation from someone with more credibility on this forum (no offense meant)

I swapped my sear spring (A5) with a spring from a Bic mechanical pencil and it works great. It's almost exactly the same length as the original only it's much softer. So far I haven't had 1 double fire and the pull is incredibly light. That combined with the pen spring makes it easy to rip with the A5 when I need to and it's not unusual for people to ask me if I have an RT. I've never shot faster than my revvy can feed but I'm sure I'd be making soup without it. My guess is that I'm around 10 bps when I'm firing at my fastest. For a tippmann gun without an RT or electro kit, that's pretty good if you ask me. I thought about trying that sear travel mod but I think I agree with Kevin Z that it will increase the wear on the corners of the sear and rear bolt. Also, I've tried the mod on the 98c with the dental elastics bands and I went back to the spring. It didn't really help me shoot faster and it sometimes caused the gun to double fire so I just got rid of it.

Can you use the trigger spring instead of a pen spring cuz all the ones I've found are like an inch long.

I wouldn't. You will want to save all of the original springs. Use pliers and cut them down to size.

the thing thats brown with the rubberbands on it connected to the pin is the sear. Theres a spring where the rubberbands connect that comes stock. You take that off and put on 3-4 rubberbands. it makes the pull on the trigger very light. Replace the bands every case of paint or so.

With a R/T I wouldn't bother. They are already fast enough. The mod will decrease your initial pull, but with the way R/T's work, it would only help with the initial shot. Yeah, the other's would have a lighter pull too, but it wouldn't be too noticeable over all.

I would think that the lighter pull would make it easier to sweet-spot, no? I don't have one and have never really used them myself but I know how they work and it seems to me that it would take less effort to hold a burst with a lighter pull.

I hadn't though about it like that, but it takes a certain distance to get the sweet-spot, this mod may make it [R/T] useless.

Does any one know anything I could use to fatten up the pin? I tryed speaker wire but that was too thick, nothing would catch, any suggestions would be great.

I heard tape or I think those round cocktail straws might work. Haven't tried yet.

Model98.net has a good mod for making the pin larger to take the slop out of the trigger.

if you have a good firing power upgrade(ebolt, egrip, response trig, firestorm crank, or any others), don't mess with the trigger and sear mods, it will most likely mess up your gun and you'll have to take it apart again and put the stock pieces back in.

I know from experience these trig mods are pretty hard to perfect (messing with the sear's position). If you don't have a good firing upgrade, i suggest only swapping the mechanical pencil spring and the stock trigger spring. After all the attemps i made, only a few worked and did not last long. i got so sick and tired with these mods, i only have polished internals, taped face of rear bolt(for quieting), and the mechanical pencil spring in my gun right now.

Anyway, this is my opinion and i'm not trying to expand this "argument"

A-5 w/ e-grip, DOP VA, ACI subzero expansion chamber, RVA, 14in bigshot

And tricked out 98C( getting rid of to pay for expensive but alsome A-5)
