I love my 3.5" 1911. Has been a dream after the first ~100 rounds.

It doesn't appear that the XD or XDM are listed on the recall.
Face it guys, common sense is a form of wealth and we're surrounded by poverty.-Strato

The shield is the subcompact M&P.

The other one I'm looking at is the M&PC - Compact.
Actually there's a few I'm considering. I haven't made a real move on getting one yet though.

Good to know. I was eyeballing BOTH of those as a potential for an off-duty or backup carry.

Shorty just e-mailed this to a bunch of us OMHW guys. S&W AND Springfield Armory have just issued two pretty serious recalls:

Quote
On a more serious note... if any of you, or anyone you know owns a S&W Shield or Springfield XDS (both are subcompacts), there are serious safety issues with these. S&W recently issued a "Safety Warning",stating that an issue with the trigger bar pin can cause a discharge if the pistol is dropped.
On the Springfields, they are being recalled as their problem can result in double-fire when the trigger is pulled once and/or **discharge when chambering a round!**

I know we have some XDS owners around here, so figured I'd bring it to everyone's attention.
<Removed overly wide sig. Tsk, you know better.>
