Medium strength (blue) Loc-tite is the king for almost every threaded connection, no matter how frequently or not you take the connection apart.

High strength (red) Loc-tite is the king if you never want it to come apart.

Teflon tape is good if you don't have the time (read: 10 minutes) for Loc-tite to cure or are in a complete emergency.

All being said, teflon tape is the least messy of the lot, but can be annoying to use.

I prefer JB Weld in all such applications.

Be more specific with the application. If you are frequently removing a threaded component, then teflon tape/thread seal, if you have no plans on removing the component and want an air/water tight seal, use Loctite.

Use loctite if you want to lock something up tight.  Use Thread seal tape if you want to tape a seal to threads.
