So they have no problem releasing the photo of the dead bomber, but not Bin Laden?

I laughed hard.

I've heard that are senators pushing for this guy to go through a military trial.

I guess due process is just applicable when we see fit?

This whole thing bothers me to the degree of control that the government excercised in shutting down a city and doing home searches for one guy.

I realize we gotta do what we gotta do, I just hope this doesn't become a common sight in the post-Patriot Act world.

The younger brother had never been back since moving when he was 8 years old, and the older had been out of the country but it wasn't confirmed where.

I highly doubt either of these were rebels of anything.

Yeah, and the two Vietnamese kids I worked with at the Japanese restaurant after graduation immigrated from Yemen, but they were still Viet-effing-namese. The way the immigration visa program is set up, it's much, much easier to immigrate from some countries than others.

And if they've been here for 10 years, but the younger brother was 19 and left when he was 8. That means they didn't spend too much time in Kyrgyzstan now did they?

Why so much interest in the back round of these guys? Does it really matter where they grew up or what religion they practiced?

It's funny when there is a mass shooting, and everyone dives into the background. When in reality there is no stereotypical mass shooter.

I hope CISPA passes. Hopefully we can use a algorithm, when certain items are purchased together, it triggers a red flag. The only downfall, is we still have a large chunk of transactions in cash.

One is curious where FE is. He managed to turn a simple murder into a Muslim-taking-over-the-world topic but has not been seen or heard from in this one.

And now when he comes back he'll say that you guys didn't know what to talk about without him driving the conversation towards prejudice and bigotry. GG guys.

But seriously, this thread never would still be coherent if he were here. Despite Impulse.'s best efforts, it's been pretty smooth sailing about this whole situation.

Also I don't understand the animosity towards FE. Your political views are more similar, than different. And it's also funny how opinions swapped sides after the '08 election.

We have such systems already to "predict" crime. ( I think LA tested it out recently)  CISPA will allow law enforcement to easily track online transactions ( I'm sure they already do, but this way it will be admissible in court) Now the problem is, when cash is still available, purchases can still fly under this radar. The left argues we need broader back round checks on firearms and the right rebuttals saying the criminals will purchase them on the streets regardless.

Now if we were to move from a hybrid of digital and cash system we have now, to a completely digital system. This will allow Federal law enforcement to track all transactions. It will also allow to capture sales tax at a unprecedented level. We could still use cards for business transactions. But for something such as private sales, simple wire transfers via cell phones would be completely feasible and easy.

Lastly removing cash will help with the recovery of the economy, because it will make it easier on the Federal Reserve in determining on how much liquidity is needed. Also the fact that removing the cost of producing and destroying bills would also help.
