Mountiancross

Found the new hobby. In our area there is BMX track with the standard 20in bikes. And there is Mountiancross for the 'older' folks where you can modify a 24in Mountian Bike to 'race'. One to two lap full out, OK no way I will get a first, but looks like fun.

Per the rules this is what I am building. Took wifes Mongoose 24in bike, put my old Mongoose 26in front forks and wheel on it, 3.10 rear, 2.1 front 'knobby' tires, wider and tad higher real MX bike bars, old banana seat hard mounted to frame. Bike can have suspention, and gearing three out of the 5 rear sprokets only, figure mid three will work.

Since I have everything initial costs will be minimal, races begin in April, will try it and see what happens. I need something to do, and competion, and just riding my mountian bike up and down the dirt roads with little motivation to exert more ain't cutting the physical therapy part of getting old.

Will post pics once I get this done, going to strip and paint frame in a Honda red motiff, make it look pretty.
