Some of you might have noticed that I've finally pulled the trigger on starting my computer business.
I need help. I have ZERO creative ability whatsoever, and I need a logo. I know several of you dabble in this sort of thing. Anyone think they can help me out? We can, of course come up with some sort of compensation if you design something I decide to use, I don't presume to hit you guys up for free labor, but I do know there's a wealth of talent here, and we go way back, so I figured I'd come here and see if anyone could help. Is anyone interested in taking a crack at it? If so, I'll provide the name and guidelines here, and you can monkey around at your leisure. If there's no interest, just let this sink to the abyss and I'll cook up something in MS paint ![]() |

Post what your company does... A good logo shows what you do without being cluttered and jumbled. Also, keeping the colors down will lower printing costs, (unless you are just going to use a color printer, and do them yourself). What is the company name, and what are you looking for?...
I work with logos all the time. The university of cincinnati paid $500,000 for their new logo a few years ago... yeah, crazy. |

Logos are their own beast in the design world, with their own challenges. I agree with FE that we need some info, since your logo should be a reflection of your identity, which is built from your values, goals, etc, so the more we know, the more we can draw from.
Generally its best to design a logo in black and white, and then colourize second. This ensures a strong idea, but also that the logo will work in print, and ideally in other colours if needed. A good test is to see if it's still legible as an internet favicon (16x16 pixels) That way even if the newspaper or whoever completely sucks at printing, your brand and image stay intact. I started my new job today so I don't know if I'll be able to take a crack at it or not, but for anyone who wants to, the more info you can give the better. And please, please please don't pick a crappy one, just because it's the best option. People make serious judgement from brand identity. |

This is why I came here. I didn't give any info yet because I wanted to see if there was any interest first.

I've dabbled a tiny bit in graphic design. I'll give it a shot in the next few days.

Here's some info:
Company Name is "Data Jack's Computer Services" Its your typical dime-a-dozen sole proprietorship company that I created to service home and small business computer needs in my area. There are two here already, but nobody has anything nice to say about them. A lot of the locals know me as the guy who serviced the school not too long ago, and I already have a few clients that are local businesses and homeowners. "We" are going to be doing the typical sort of work: hardware troubleshooting, home and small business networking and troubleshooting, virus removal and protection...that sort of thing. I have virtually NO 'requirements' for what a logo ought to be, which is again why I came here- to get ideas from the think tank (as I often refer to this place in the world.) If I can stick any more information to you that might help you help me, ask away. |

I vote the logo be one of the "peeing Calvin's" urinating on a computer virus.

I think your logo should be an ethernet plug (rj45) being plugged into a port since it works with the name.

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos. |

The name is a play on the Rj45 ends, coupled with the fact that its my oldest son's name. Its why I chose it. |

I have an idea in my head, but I'm not the kind of person that would be able to create it. It's a play off of MBro's idea... and by play, I mean the exact idea but with more detail. Have the J in Jack be the cable and it would be plugging into the bottom of the last a in data. somebody make it happen, as this is the most creative I'll ever be.
