Bravo, however I hope there are no serious repercussions.

I really wouldn't feel safe in a Canadian embassy in Iran, myself. On a semi-related note, Argo looks like a cool movie.

Cutting off diplomatic ties is not the way to conduct diplomacy.

When is the last time Iran displayed any desire to actually engage in diplomatic relations?

I say good for Canada, get your people out of there while you still can.

I'd say that storming an embassy wall, wrecking all the stuff possible, then taking Marines, Diplomats, and Civilians hostage and torturing them for 444 days is excellent diplomacy.

I've explained my distaste for the current Iranian regime before.

The news here to me is many of the comments to the story. I'm not sure what kind of faux character some of those people think that they're hiding behind but it's time they own up to the true position and actions of their country. I'm not falling for the innocent tree hugger routine.if you've seen videos of canadian military in combat overseas you know what I mean. They seem quite blood thirsty.

Que?

You're saying that Canadians secretly dislike Iran? I would disagree, but whatever. From my perspective Canada seems to have a large (compared to the US) Shiite population.

I also disagree on your military bit, but thats just me. They seem professional IMHO.

I'm proud of my country for doing this. The U.S. hasn't had an embassy there for a while and the U.K. closed their embassy last year. When a country does not follow international law or U.N. mandates, you have got to question the trustworthiness of the government of that country. Plus, with what happened yesterday in Libya, who's to say it couldn't happen to another allied government's embassy?

What usafpilot07 said, its better to get them out while we still can. Honestly, the middle east is only getting more unstable.

As someone with many Iranian friends, any deterioration in relations makes me sad, and concerned about their families.
