Several from my FoW gaming group wanted to expierience some form of 'combat'. I suggested a paintball trip to the local field, and 25 of us traped down to the local rip you off paintball field.
I had my own gear, the rest rentals with all the usual problems. I had my moded Salvo with 14in barrel, A5 loader, remote tank and hose, and some airsoft add ons on the rails for pure 'intimidation' factor, my TPX on leg holster, vest and wore my Afghan SF impression clothing. The initial set up was 7 vs 18, thier call as I and the 6 defended the 'ville' and those who know me know that I was never in or near any of the buildings, it was a slaugher, and I agreed to 30 round loaders only. These live in moms basement wanna be warriors (gamers) were a hoot. All thier great planning, tactical concepts based on Rambo movies I guess, were usually a 'herding cats' exercise as the first rounds were fired. Kinda reminded me of the paintball scenes in Big Bang Theory, as Sheldon and the geeks plan............. I just messed with them not killing or firing a lot letting my team mates learn as I directed, pointed and sometimes swore. I would just stand up point my gun thier direction and the bad guys scattered or went down, did not even have to fire. At the end of the day I gave a few classes on room clearing, as well as WW2 and modern tactical movement so they could see the minitures and MW3 stuff first hand. The looks of 'well it works in the game' but why not here were classics. Had fun, dusted off the gear, may make a trip to Mich for TWC, just for a weekend of something differant to do. |

Sounds about the same deal as when my old boss- who was the wrestling coach at SUNY Oneonta called me up, asked if I wanted to go with him when he took the wrestling team to the local field.
Myself, the coach, and a third guy were the only ones that had ever played. We spent all day destroying these guys. Glad you had a good time. I'm looking forward to getting out again soon myself. |

I just played on Saturday for the first time in 4 years, it was a blast.
Myself and 15 co-workers went to a local field. Only me and 1 other player were 'experienced'. I played with my SL68II, everyone thought I would do terrible, I ended up destroying everyone. Definitely see myself getting back into it!

For you guys that haven't played in a while... You should get an Apex 2 barrel. They are amazing and have changed the way woodsball is played, as you can shoot flat, and around tree branches with the adjustable trajectory. When you first start using it, just set it at 4 clicks and leave it until you get used to it.
I was goofing off during a game with mine a few weeks ago. There were these guys in a fort WAY far away from me, and I was able to drop paint all around them causing them to hide, allowing my team members to advance on their position while they were bunkered down. |

Just a quick note on my Apex 2 experience, it works better if you clean the ramp with a Amour All wipe.
OS, great to hear you still have that fire in your belly. |

I'm going to have to get an Apex2. I loved the flatline barrel.
Thought the topic was I PRAYED for the first time in years. Thought uh-oh. Glad it wasn't something life threatening. Glad you got the cobwebs out. Kick ass old man. KBK |

I'm going on July 13th to an Island across from my town. We will be canoeing across and camping the night there.
Two scenarios we are planning is a "D-Day" landing in which some guys will be landing in canoes on the beach. Firing won't commence from the shore until the players have crossed a line drawn in the sand. There will be fortifications for cover on the beach. The other scenario we will try is the classic "Protect the President" or "Protect the VIP" where a small group of maybe 2 or 3 body guards will escort the "President" or "VIP" to a safe location with everybody chasing them. There will also be a lone "assassin" set up half way to try to either take them out or pin them down until the rest of the players catch up to them. The "D-Day" landing diagram. ![]() "President Escape" diagram. ![]() Should be sweet!! |

I haven't played in years but in the last week I just found out that my old team are now sponsored by our friends at Tippmann. Might need to get back into it now. it's been far too long.
