wow that article made no sense to me. the only thing i gathered from it is, they fired a big ass laser. now if they can just find a shark with a big enough head.

Well that's special. It souns like a very large diode pump and fiber optic delivery resonator. I curious as to what material the focusing lens is made of. Can it cut 6" thick steel with. 002" tolerance? That would be very impressive.

I'll take the rail gun.  At least you can fire that more than once in a 36hr period.  Besides, I don't think they could get that fancy light emitter to fit on a cruiser.
