So, who here has read the book/books? I just finished the first book a few nights ago at my wife's insistence on reading it. I found it to be alright, but it won't ever find its way into one of my "top" lists. To me, there was a lack of character development and a lot of things left unexplained that should have been at least a little better detailed. Catching Fire (book 2) is addressing some of those issues, but I don't really think you should have to go through an entire book before you start getting better character development out of the series. Of course, that won't stop me from seeing the movie now.

Wife read the first book and seemed to like it. Started the second last night. I'm still in the middle of the first book of the Game of Thrones, so it'll be awhile until I get to it.

I read all three in a few days. Decent books, but I ended up feeling pretty bad for ole Pete. My big beef was that I felt like they could have been more fleshed out.

I was thinking about retreading them during my flights tomorrow since the movie is out next week.

Also, go see the movie, 'twas filmed in NC

I just finished it.  It's different, I like the concept but it turns into a bit of a teen romance.

Great, more children's fiction for adults to read for some reason.

GAHHHHH Spam filter still sucks!

ITT it's great we have something that can be enjoyed by adults and kids alike.  It's not like I can have my daughter read "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and sit around discussing it. My wife and oldest both read the Harry Potter books and truly enjoyed them. We probably get sucked into one of the movies at least once a week or so. One of the few movies that we can all sit around and truly enjoy.

The lead actress was good in Winter's Bone, so it has that going for it.

Read all 3 books in just a couple of weeks. They were decent, however I found the end to be 'meh' and sort of rushed... just like Mass Effect 3.

I'm beginning to hate trilogy endings...

Beginning to? Did you see the matrix series?

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

Totally sounds like it, but it's about an Appalachian teen trying to support her mentally-ill mother and younger siblings, and hillbillies on meth. Jennifer Lawrence did get a nomination for her performance, and she really carried a decent low-budget film. I'm thinking I'm going to wait and catch this one after theaters. The fact that they keep making Twilight comparisons is a major turn-off for me. Who knows, it could be better than Star Wars I-III. The comparisons that keep getting made are lowering the bar for it, which doesnt make me want to see it.
