1 1/2 cup cider vinegar

1/2 cup katsup

1 tbsp sugar

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp cayenne or 1 tsp red pepper flakes

or

1 cup yellow mustard

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup light brown sugar

3/4 cup cider vinegar

1/4 cup water

2 tbsp chili powder

1 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp cayenne

1/2 tbsp soy sauce

2 tbsp butter

1 tbsp liquid smoke

I'm confused at that middle "or." 

Was it to set apart two different recipes, or can you substitute the vinegar for the mustard? 

Honestly curious, this sounds rather good. I love mustard-based BBQ sauces and rubs.

I can only assume it's two different recipes, unless you really put in cider vinegar twice.

Good catch. It makes more sense now. 

I'm considering trying one of these on chicken. I've got some chicken thighs in the freezer with no real plan in mind.
