Jeez, who cares about civilian deaths? Back in WWII, THOUSANDS of civilians died from cities being bombed and nobody complained then.

ITT: War isn't safe.

It's an exercise. A large one, but an exercise nonetheless. It's part of the mandate of the Marines to retain that capability, and that necessitates practising it from time to time.

If and when the U.N. authorizes troops on the ground in Libya under Chapter 7, an amphibious invasion would not be necessary. Most forces could be brought in routinely through the ports the rebels hold.

Yup, he actually said that.

Might not be for Libya Wink

Let it happen in July. Then I will truly be x-mas in July.

http://thecable.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2011/06/24/exclusive_top_us_admiral_admits_we_are_trying_to_kill_qaddafi

"The same admiral also said he anticipated the need for ground troops in Libya after Qaddafi falls,"

If memory serves me right, didn't we have more casualties in Iraq, when our troops started being police?

It keeps getting better and better.

I'm sure you realize we're both too old for that, barring WWIII and even then not right away.

So we avoided a ground "war"

But how many people died in Iraq when we were "occupying"?

ITT: War isn't safe.

ITT: You fail to realize the differences between nation-building and all-out warfare.

And I'm sure millions upon millions complained about the civilian deaths. I kind of doubt people just accepted and dismissed Hitler's Blitzkrieg or the US' firebombing campaigns.

Actually I was being sarcastic.

I'm pissed there were civilian deaths.

No civilian or troop should be killed from terrorism the NATO has done.
