![]() Tippmann is pleased to announce we are expanding the hot selling X7 Phenom platform with the introduction of a mechanical-only version that can be upgraded to a full e-Grip version; as well as several new wider tactical-style magazines including a new M16, G36 and AK-47. To watch Denny Tippmann, Jr. talk about the new marker and accessories, check out this video at Tippmann: Tippmann Updates. he new mechanical-only X7 Phenom will retail for $299, and is designed for those players who may not have the need or desire to use electronics, as well as those who may simply want to invest in electronics later, but want the benefits of the marker's FlexValve technology. The three new magazines add to the MP5, MP5SD and UMP mags already currently available for your X7 Phenom marker, and give a true realistic look of an M16, AK-47 and G36–three of the more popular gun styles among woodsball and scenario players. These new wider magazines feature an innovative locking mechanism that includes a new trigger guard, but retail for the same price as all other Tippmann magazines. There will be a lot more news on this introduction coming soon, but until then you can also visit Tippmann or contact your local paintball dealer. Although we have begun shipping these new items quantities are limited so we encourage you to contact your dealer to get your orders in now. ![]()

How does the phenom work in freezing temps? I am thinking about upgrading but I play in the snow every year at least a few times.

It slightly worries me that milsim markers are becoming more and more accessible to the general public.
How long till someone uses one to commit a crime like they do with airsoft guns, or gets shot because they wield one like a gun? Not that this isn't cool on tippmann's part, just the movement in general scares me. |

It is strange that it is so popular... I guess if you hang your paintball gun on the wall it matters.
But me personally, I play with no stock and a short barrel, so my gun is light and easy to swing from one side of the tree to the other... I couldn't imagine having all that stock and long barrel and heavy weight when trying to sniper up on someone.

The AK is decent, but the rest look rather bad. Even when I was madly into Milsim I wouldn't have purchased one of those.
Sorry but it's true. |

Phenom will work well in cold weather. i would recommend using compressed air over co2. Any gun in cold temps using co2 has the chance to freeze.

^^^ . . . and he is protected by presidential decree.
The G36 isn't too bad either. I really think the A5 is better suited for MP5 mods . . . and I have never thought Tippmanns were that suitable for M16/M4 mods. Edited Addition: I am glad though that they finally are coming out with more magazine options. Edited by Mack - 08 September 2010 at 5:34pm |

Just a matter of taste. Creating reality out of differing shape of reciever from the true iron operating system is an art form in itself.
These creations are a good step foward, the RAP system is gaining, and of course there is always airsoft for reality, now with true gas blowback and gas recoil systems. |

Can we agree that this post should be un-stickied in a month or so? I don't see the point in keeping this up and we should agree on a date.

Agreed. It is junking up my precious topic space. Also I am agreeing with USAF, the milsim thing is really getting out of hand. Paintball in general is trying to distance itself from the guns and killing image in order to bring it into the mainstream more. Markers like these are not helping the cause at all. |

^^^ I have to wonder, what exactly is this "paintball" that is "trying to distance itself?" If you judge by the numbers of mil-sim markers being produced/sold it would seem that there is a definite market for them. Is "paintball" really anything more than the people who play it? If not, then it would seem that "paintball" may not be trying to distance itself from the "guns and killing" image. There may be some people involved in the sport that think this way, but the market growth for these products would indicate that they may not be representative of the majority of people involved in the the sport.

Actually, I do know what your talking about, but I'm not trolling. I'm pointing out that when someone talks about the sport of paintball as an entity I tend to think of the people who play it as opposed to the (for lack of a better description) industry/association gurus who try to run it.

FE: My Phenom works quite well in the cold. I had no issues with it whatsoever last winter.
Tippmann Employee: Not that it matters, but I think the new magwells were much needed. But a question that has not been answered, wheres my double trigger?

I bet they made more on the 98 and 98c. They supplied a great line of non-milsim GTA products for both the 98 and A5. I'm also aware this is the Tippmann forum, but of all the subforums I'm not sure the off topic one was the best choice. I guess that's why you made your thread about the new designs in T&O too. Oh wait. |
