Nope, it's too true. Goretex boots are rubbish.

He is correct sir. Goretex is nice on super dry days, suck for any sort of humidity unless you're puddle hoppin'. Sadly, I did not know this when I bought my boots, though they are super comfortable and durable.

Mine are indeed steel toe. I'm not sure if they make a non-steel toe, honestly. I do have to go out and buy some new socks. My old boots were pretty short, so I wear the same socks I wear with all my shoes when I wear them. The 300s are much taller, and I have no long socks with me at school (and I'm not sure if I have any at home, honestly). Anyway, the hour and a half of wearing them so far they seemed surprisingly comfortable for unbroken-in leather. |

I've never had any problems with Gortex, and I've had my boots on in all sorts of weather.

Generally working under the assumption that I'll end up in a fairly deep amount of water, I wear Magnum Storm 2. Half leather half mesh, Goretex lined. That's for work. Just walking around I normally wear Merrell moab GTX. Goretex lined, vibram sole.

![]() Rocky Alpha Force 8inch, with side zippers. I used to have Rocky Fort Hoods, but the Alpha forces are much lighter and better designed... The side zipper is so unbelievably useful, makes it so much more realistic to wear the boots for every day use since they just slide on and off.

Very rarely have I been in a day-to-day situation where I've needed boots.

Truth. I'd like to not have to wear boots, and get by with my preferred footwear, a pair of all black Vans. However, their tread and general lack of suitability in snowy situations means that most of the time during the winter, I am wearing a pair of Cabela's Gore-Tex hiking boots. |

Not true. Old pair of shoes+dry pair of socks is all you need. |

Maybe to walk down a shoveled sidewalk, but dry socks in tennis shoes dont stay dry for very long around here.

Maybe if you wish you be constantly changing socks and shoes! My feet would be soaked most of the winter just walking from my front yard to my car if I wore typical tennis shoes. |
