Don't work full time while attending school full time. Its hell.

I worked a 13 hour shift, got off at 7 this morning, and had to be at the college by 9 for 5 classes. Thankfully that's the one day a week that occurs for me.

There is no way, if your taking a somewhat serious degree that you want to get somewhat serious grades that you can work at all while at school.

I'm working 3 days a week (sometimes 4) and doing classes all day 2 days a week. I have less free time now than I ever have. I'm used to working on projects for a while and submitting them, etc. Now I have 80000 things to read every week, then write about, present about other stuff for another class, while trying to figure out solidworks and create assemblies.
I dont hate the work because I'm lucky to even have a decent job, especially one so close to my place, and it's money, but holy crap this semester will kill me. I cant wait till 2 weeks off during the olympics, but I know I'll get some mondo huge projects at the same time. |

I know varsity athletes and people who worked full time who graduated with honors -- including engineers and pre-meds. Hell, my girlfriend rows and has a 4.8 (since her school is out of 5.0), studying chemical engineering. That's easily equivalent to working part-time. It just depends how bad you want it. |

Man up...
I worked a TRAVELING job where I would go into work, and litterally find out I was flying out of state to fix a editing system right then... With the clothes on my back and no overnight bag (finally started carrying one in my car after about the 5th trip)... I would be gone until I fixed the system, sometimes just a day, other times up to three days...
While taking 24 credit hours so I could graduate my last semester. (semester before I took 20 hours.)
Learn to prioritize.
Oh, and I graduated in 4 years, and made enough money to pay for my college cash, and had zero loans...

I couldn't work full time and go to school full time, If you can, that's great, you posses qualities that I do not. I work full time summer and breaks, then I get one day a week on Fridays usually, since I don't have class.
It gets me by. |
