These are all in no particular order, from my mom, grandma, grandparents, girlfriend and her parents:
A Blackberry Curve 8900 (Didn't really cost anything. Got it free when we renewed our contract). Macbook Pro 15" (ordered but not actually here yet) A dartboard in a dartboard cabinet. A nice set of darts + a carrying case. Some nice button-up shirts and new jeans. About 5 new T-shirts with the UCF logo. My family never stopped getting me new college stuff, even though I am about to leave to a (hopefully) far-away graduate school soon. A new pair of Vans slip-ons. Some cookbooks. A big-ass jar of pistachios. Socks/underwear. A box of G2 pens. $25 gift cards to Barnes & Noble and Best Buy A set of pajama pants. Collective cash of $350 spread across four grandparents. |

The total value of the gifts I've received for any single holiday or birthday has never exceeded $350, and for my to receive anywhere near half that amount is quite a rarity. Anyway, the Turks have done a funny thing with Christmas. It still has all your favorite characters, pedo-Santa Claus at the mall, crack-addict Rudolf, elves as tall as (or taller than) mall Santa himself; but we took the Christmas out of Christmas and replaced it with New Years. There are fire hazard trees all over the place and all that happydappy music you hear about frightful weather and fireplace cooking still plays. So, who knows? I missed out on my chance to skydive, I'll be in Cappadocia for New Years, which will hopefully get me the opportunity to jump off of a hot air balloon. |
