Topic: Holiday Presents.... Posted: 16 December 2009 at 12:08am |
So who else is asking for or giving a Zhu-Zhu this holiday season? It is the "it" toy this year.
Feel free to post what you are giving or asking for in this thread also.

Hanukkah, actually but I was trying to include most of the members that have future present receiving opportunities, ie... the members that celebrate Winter Solstice, Kwanzaa, and Xmas.
Congrats on thinking outside your personal bubble.

I got my parents a $100 Visa gift card to help them with the new room they are building.
and thats all... better than last year though.
As for me, I didnt ask for anything. Everything I want exceeds most of my family's income: new car, stereo equipment, ginormous HDTV etc... I'll most likely wind up getting cash or gift cards from everyone.

One of the few times I agree with Jmac. If you don't believe in the holiday, you have no reason to celebrate it. Kudos for not being a hypocrite.

If you're family isn't celebrating it, that's a different story. Christmas isn't a Christian holiday by any stretch of the imagination anymore -- it says a lot if you're not getting presents for people if they're getting some for you.

I think it was more in the manner with which jmac decided to present himself than the actual content.

I tell everyone to not get me anything(except for my mother). I in turn after saying this get them nothing.
Not my fault if they still feel the need to get me things. I have only ever bought presents for girlfriends.
Call me a dick if you must.

That's the way I took it. I would find it hypocritical to not get presents for people, but to expect them in return for a holiday that you don't believe in.

Perhaps you should take a look at your phrasing.
It's called "being nice". Your phrasing, not so much.

Its all about presentation. I could tell you: "The sky is blue" Or, I could say: "Hey jerk, the sky is blue" Both say the same thing, one's got a little extra mixed in.

I don't really celebrate the gift giving aspects of the holiday, so I won't be getting anyone anything. I don't usually give gifts, its not my thing I don't believe in giving gifts, so I won't be doing that. I won't get anyone anything, since its not really what I do because (insert reason here) Without background information on the 'why' you just sound like a grinch.
