Again, the inflection (can you do that with text?) in what you wrote spoke louder than what you actually wrote.
...I think. I'm not really offended or even agreeing with your opposition, I'm merely stating that I see where one could construe what you said as being snarky, haughty, or decidedly scrooge-like.

Well, you are dick, but I just didn't think it was justified in this case. I tend to be blunt, and often get accused of the same thing. I actually had some empathy for you.

Probably doesnt matter if your a dick or not. Online things are often taken out of context, a conversation like this one with really no point can carry on forever without anyone feeling like they got the answear they wanted.
Im not a fan of X-mass myself, my wife LOVES it and of corse so do the kids. So I play the role for there benfit. We have to buy far to many presents to list a year because of both our families ect. But among a few things I am sure I am getting this year is a range finder, X7 phenom and subscription to my paintball and hunting mags.
As per the usual I got my wife something practical in a handheld camera. For the normal pleaser stuff I got her a birthstone ring, necklace and a charm.
Merry Xmass to those who beleive, those who dont its not ment to be offensive!
