Specifically the kind of evil that we see in so many movies, games, and television, and which has not gotten the attention it deserves: Load-bearing evil.

Load-bearing evil is a blight upon our society.

Load-bearing evil affects so many of us that have no stake at all in the "plight" of the would-be hero. Just because his family is in danger, or her daughter needs saving, or the mother-brain just got capped, the whole place has to come crashing down. This makes for an unsafe environment for the rest of us, and it is unconcionable to ignore it.

New building codes are needed to combat this reliance on load-bearing evil. Just because there happens to be enough evil present on which to frame a building's support structure does not mean we should allow contractors to skimp on materials and time.

A building, especially an asylum or hospital or mansion, built on a foundation of load-bearing evil may better survive the ravages of time, inevitable fires, mysterious disappearances and, of course, abandonment for no reason beyond what a single person will find out and which no one would ever dare believe, but it's at too great a cost.

Construct buildings from standard materials, even though more efficient load-bearing evil is available, and keep us all safe from the sudden removal of vital structural integrity by some random vigilante bent on "salvation." The savings in property damage alone are worth the effort, and we can all rest easier knowing that evil can be stripped from a building without fear of complete collapse.

load-bearing evil... the evil that is present in every building we work or live in. load bearing being the structural points of the building that could turn evil should they fail whether by themselves or by said vigilante or evil doer and thus causing death, destruction and despair.

Anyone can figures out these main points by watching tv and movies or by playing video games and making it super easy for one to use this load-bearing evil against anyone and everyone in or around the building its a part of.

close enough?

I was watching Mirrors last night, and once more saw that when the evil spirit in the building was defeated the building began to collapse immediately. This happens in all kinds of games and movies, where it seems to be that the only thing keeping the building standing is the evil energy inside. Once defeated, the building begins to fall apart immediately.

It's a dangerous situation. We need to build with more appropriate materials than undilluted evil. Once the person or persons said evil is affecting comes to defeat it, the building needs to maintain stability until proper means of demolition can be brought in.

Upon the recommendation of my close friend, I am starting the Dark Tower series.

I'm only about 100 pages in, but so far it is excellent.

There is a significant character that I don't care for, introduced in the last half of book two; don't let that deter you if you end up feeling the same. That character improves in my opinion, and there are enough worthwhile characters to stay engaged.
