I was surprised as well.
I definitely do not think that it's a reasonable decision.

Banning/regulating religion should never be left to the people. However, it is Switzerland, so I don't really care.

Well it was going to happen sooner or later. Ethnic (or indigenous or native born) Europeans have been inundated the last decade by Islamic refugees from war torn areas such as (but not limited to) Bosnia and Croatia.
Generally speaking, when a person or a group of persons wishes to emigrate to another country, it is usually because there is something appealing to them about that particular country and they want to become a part of it. They learn how to become citizens of that country and integrate into that country's society by adopting many of the customs.
I have read that in many instances Islamic immigrants and/or refugees do not necessarily integrate socially into the population of the country they move to; they tend keep to themselves, and follow their own laws such as Sharia. This tendency fosters mistrust and separation with the local population. Additionally, increased activity in Europe by Islamic extremists has not helped the Islamic immigrant's cause.
Most countries in Europe have been around for centuries and there is quite a bit of history and tradition associated with each one. The bottom line is the populace of these old countries feel that their traditions, beliefs, and to an extent their governments are threatened.
I'm not saying it's right or wrong. I'm saying that it was bound to happen sooner or later.
At least that's my 2 cents.

Once again FE fails to understand the difference between "muslim" and "muslim extremist". The ignorance is astounding.

Stupid and bigoted. This is only going to increase tension between European populations and Muslim immigrants further, and it also unjustly restricts the freedoms of the vast majority of Muslims who are perfectly reasonable, decent people.

No surprise at all to me. My last trip to CH 3 years ago was full of Swiss expressing their concern over the growing number of Muslims and their fear of extremist coming to CH.

Oh really?...
Prove me wrong...
Here is the link to the gallup polling.
And the extremist part of the muslim world makes up 7%.
1,400,000,000 muslims X 7% = 100,000,000
Don't let the facts get in the way of your position though...

Way to miss the point. I don't give a damn how you got your number of extremists, in fact I didn't mention that number at all in my post. My position, which is that you equate Muslims with Muslim extremists is further proven by your post which solely mentions extremists in a thread discussing a topic about non-extremists being persecuted. My other position, that your bigotry and ignorance abounds is proven correct again by the same post. So just keep on proving me right, big guy.

You bring up Muslim extremists as though they are relevant to this discussion; they are not. The radical Muslims are at war with (more or less, anyway; this is a gross oversimplification, but mostly accurate I think) foreign entities imposing themselves on the Muslim nations and with the western culture. It's kind of counter-intuitive to think that any significant number of extremists would live in a nation where western culture is largely predominant, or that they are a threat in a country like Switzerland. Your post served nothing other than to show your own islamophobia and how you let it skew your view on Muslims in general (I say this because NOTHING RELEVANT ABOUT RADICALISM OR TERRORISTS WAS MENTIONED PRIOR TO YOUR POST, yet you bring it up as though Islam and violence go hand in hand with each other). So are you wrong about the number of extremists in the world? It doesn't seem that way. But are you wrong that it is relevant to this topic? Completely.

Knowing nothing other than the religion of a Muslim, we can't. That's the point.

The same way you tell the difference between regular, rational Ohioans like benji and irrational, ignorant, bigoted extremist Ohioans like yourself. Listen to the crap that spews forth from their mouths.
