My solution (other than driving really fast): as discussed above, if I see somebody come up behind me, I pull over to let them pass.
If somebody is passing you on the right, chances are pretty good you are in the wrong lane.
(Exceptions, of course - folks using all 3/4/5 lanes so they never actually come up behind you, but they really are the minority)

Ben, trust me I am never going too slow to be in the left lane.
You say they're in the minority, but they're still pretty frequent...I do a decent amount of driving.

And this would be the proper, courteous thing to do rather than declare yourself the law and slow everyone else down. All that does is increase road rage and make the road even more dangerous.

That's what happens when you go out of your way to be a tool on a regular basis.
Im suprised I havent seen 'omgz new jerzey iz bad" comments yet.
I'm assuming there is a story behind this I don't know; if it is good please explain.

New Jersey gets a bad rap I think. Its not that they're really bad, there's just so dang many of them. Bad drivers, I still insist- come from Connecticut and drive BMWs. jmac, it wasn't anything bad, I just realized after I posed it that it wasn't going to accomplish anything.

Kansas has the worst drivers. When they get out of their home state it's like they don't know how to drive. (Probably due to lack of experience with roads that have actual direction changes.)

I hate it when I'm in the left hand lane, doing about 10 over the limit, and some moron comes up behind me doing at least 100 because I don't even see them coming, and instead of just going into the empty right hand lane next to me. They slam on the break, flash their lights and beep their horn at me.

While I don't necessarily condone honking except in the most of extreme circumstances, perhaps, if you were paying attention, you would have seen the faster driver coming up and gotten in the right hand lane as you should. If it's clear and you aren't passing anyone, why are you in the left hand lane anyways? Left hand lane = passing.

My experience driving in CT taught me two local rules for intersection stoplights:
1. A red light doesn't really count until it has been red for 2-3 seconds.
2. It's ok to get a head start on your own green light. When the light for crossing traffic turns yellow, it's time for you to hit the gas.
I am still astonished that I didn't see a pileup in every intersection every single day.

slacker how is that being a tool?
I said people who think the 10 MPH thing is real is dumb. Others agreed.
I then said I feel driving is dangerous with a baby in the car.
Reb then argued with me, said I called him a bad parent and told me his wife thinks some crap I don't care about.
None of that is being a tool...

I wouldn't blame it all on jmac being a tool. A good portion of it is related to jmac being an idiot.
