Reading the book, an interesting view into the looney left and looney right, with a mix of government intervention and failure.  

Statistics are verified such as in 1964 when the War on Poverty was declared by LBJ 13% of the nation could be considered poor.  Now in 2009 after 400billion in program spending 13% of the nation is still considered poor.  Amtrak averages $415 dollars in government subsidies for each paying passenger, and many routes run trains with less than 25% occupancy, sometimes for a higher price per mile rate than it would take to drive it, and you would arrive sooner driving it.  Side note UP and BNSF has offered to reinstate high speed rail service from the major east coast to west coast metros, the Government will not allow either to start or test run the project.  (competition scares the **** out of the government) And AMTRAK runs on UP and BNSF rails and does not have to pay for maintenence or upkeep of exsisting rails.  So explain how AMTRAK can lose money on that sweet deal.

The examples outlined with the current government slant as compared to the founders is really plain to see.  BTW 35% of Democrats in Congress send thier kids to private schools (and are against vouchers so you can do it) as compared to 18% of Republican members of Congress.

A fun read even if you are a lefty wackjob, it is hard to debate the documented facts faound in the book.  Information that many here and in the nation really do not want to hear about our illustrious government.

I love the Chapter on Education and the written quotes from DOE as well as Teacher Unions, personnel debating thier issues, complete with misspellings, grammatical errors, and misstated factual examples.  Official documents submitted to the government, got to love it.

Fun read (for those of you that can) and just the humor in it will make it a classic.
