Were moving back to Canada and were looking for a GPS to "guide" us there. There was a thread about GPS's a while back but there might be some new technologies out since then. Looking for something cheap ($200 or below) and can do a good job and still isn't a piece of crap. Anyone know of any good models or brands?
EDIT: Also need one that has maps of Canada because thats where im going to be living. Edited by Rofl_Mao - 14 July 2009 at 7:08pm |

I always liked my Magellan, never gave me any problems... although it would be nice to have an 'avoid ghettos' option.

I love my Garmin--- got it off of Woot for $70 with 2009 maps.
It's an older model, but Garmins are ALL good. |

Pretty much anything in the Nuvi line by Garmin.
I think Garmin's user interface is easy to use and fluid - better than anything else that is on the market. I use the Nuvi 200 for traveling, and an old-school E-Trex Legend for Geocaching. |

i think any gps you buy in the US will have only US maps. you can get map chips to put in some brands out there. but you could always avoid the problem and order one from a canadian website, and maybe since its shipped from canada it will have the maps you need?
never liked GPS. its a nice device, but i still prefer maps and radio...gps doesn't factor in traffic |

Many of the newer models do, and you can buy adapters for some of the older ones. |

I just picked up my iPhone 3G-S. I'm so glad it has a GPS on there. I needed one. I have a horrible time going to places I don't know. Now I just need a car charger for those long trips.

I didn't know you were into Geocaching too, Whale. Sweet. Anyway, to the OP, I recommend Garmin as well. I have a handheld Garmin, a Rino 120. Edited by Shub - 15 July 2009 at 10:21am |
