I just checked out NHL.com. They've got a side-by-side stat page for Ovi and Crosby. When you get into the numbers, there's simply no comparison.

What is it with you Caps fan?? You whine about how Crosby is overrated, but it's all of you that can't get over him!

The numbers say what most open minded hockey fans already agree on...Ovechkin is a first rate goal scorer (more goals, a zillion more shots on goal), Crosby is a better playmaker (similar points totals but a lot less goals means many more assists).

Don't get too excited either. I know Caps fans aren't familiar with how the playoffs thing work, most of those "Rockin' the Red" had no idea that DC had a hockey team until Ovechkin came to town, but the playoffs are a team sport.

As much as the NHL is falling over themselves to turn this into the Crosby vs Ovechkin show, the bigger story will probably be a question of goaltending.

Just remember Shub, it's pronounced "var-LA-mov" stress that second syllable and make that 'a' a long one! You'll be cursing his name every second of the series and you should really know how to pronounce it correctly.

Oh come on. They deserve to have a playoff to see who gets to lose to, I mean play, the wings.

The Eastern Conference is so adorable.

Hit on Hudler: Suspendable?

If he hadn't gotten thrown out of the game, I'd say yes.  But with a 5 min major and a game misconduct, I'm not so sure.  I don't expect the league to suspend him.

That was a crazy save...although it doesn't look like Crosby was able to get full power on that shot, he certainly didn't get any elevation.

The Washington Post ran a great 3-page article starting as their front-page headline item in today's paper on Donald Brashear's life. It's amazing he even survived early childhood let alone stayed focused enough to become one of hockey's greats. Sad story, very very sad story, but some amazing insight into Brash's life.

It's worth a read!
