One of my friends, is really into custom hot rods. And today I found out his car just won gold at Darryl Starbird's 44th Annual Tulsa Rod and Custom Show.

He got a cool trophy and a check for $20,000!

Pretty cool.

Here is an old pic of it.

Very nice!

My uncle designs specialty carburetors. He used to do a lot of work with hot rod builders, but that was more for speed-rods, the kind that go out to Bonneville, although he did do some work for show cars as well.

A few of my friends built this one. People at SEMA were really ticked off as they though he had cut apart a real vintage 32 race car to show off his product. Since it is a steel body and all, and the parts are correct...

Then the next year he built the whole car...

If you are into hot rods, you probably saw it as it was on the cover of most of the major mags. I have tons of build pics from it, you can see some of them in this article.

Chewp, I lol'd. Hard. Very well played.

NJ: Nope, not since the transmission went down. I still think I can fix it, but lack the funds at the moment.

". . . Buicks were something that IQ-challenged grandparents drove. Not only were Buicks more boring than Al Gore behind a podium, their quality was atrocious to boot. Seriously, consider as a metaphor crossing Jimmy Carter's flaccid economic philosophy with George Bush's protectionist rhetoric and you'll get a sense of how I feel about Buicks. . . "

The quote is taken from this article; which is actually quite an interesting read.
