Of my 9100 songs, maybe fifty have been paid for.  It happens that those are my most recent songs, and those are the ringtones I want.
My mom uses napster to go at home, and she gets unlimited downloads, but the key is when you go to burn a CD, you're charged, so I was using a hacked copy of tunebite to rerecord them as mp3's, and dropping them into itunes.  Now i need a mac friendly program that does the same thing

Your original post mentioned iTunes gift cards, last time I checked iTunes doesn't charge to burn to a CD. Napster, I don't keep up with, and I'm sorry to hear you/your mom are wasting money on it.

Depending on what phone is being used, BitPim might work. I use that to make ringtones and move pics/vids off of my LG Dare but it works for other phones too. It took me about 5 minutes to figure out how to use it and it takes about 30 seconds for me to get myself a new ringtone from start to it's-gonna-play-when-i'm-called. If that doesn't do it, failure becomes you. Good luck.
