The lowest right now I've seen in Michigan is $3.25, which actually, my area is usually higher than the rest of the state. It seems like prices go down 10 cents almost every day.
What are you guys paying? |

Big freakin deal.
I'll get excited when: A: The price drops below $3 a gallon (never happen) B: The the correlation between the drop in oil prices and the drop in gas prices are as direct as the correlation between RISING prices. Until then: Meh. |

Pretty much. I dont get why people get excited for a 10 cent drop. You put in 15 gallons and you save $1.50. |

We went down to $3.49 this morning.
I'm as glad as anyone that it's down, but with the economic situation we're in, I'm waiting for the price to drop and the states decide to hoist gas taxes in order to generate more revenue. |

My friend said he saw $2.79 2 cities away.
That's rediculous. It's $3.12 by me. |

in Michigan, our refineries are right over the border in Canada, so gas isn't too bad here.
However we do this stupid credit/cash thing around here. Paying for gas with cash is $0.10 cheaper than paying with credit. |

I never knew that. I'm up in the Port Huron area, and we always seem to be the most expensive. I've noticed that the closer you get to Ohio, the cheaper it is.
Wheres that at? |

Cash prices are lower as the credit card processing companies take a cut of EVERY sale now, no matter how small.
As for gas prices vs oil price correlations, you won't see that as there are too many factors to be taken into account. Higher oil prices will always drive gas prices higher in the US as our refineries are already working at maximum output. They can't actually make any MORE gas, thus the supply side of the chain rules supreme. They can, however, make LESS gas if consumption drops or the prices drop which affect their profit margins. Thus, you'll see a bit of an ease at the pump when oil prices drop, but until we build more refineries and upgrade our infrastructure while we still rely on fossil fuels, you'll never see the drastic drop in fuel costs like you do with crude prices. |
