We have cheap gas here in the KS/MO area.
OPEC is moving to hold an emergency meeting a month ahead of schedule as certain members are calling to reduce production to drive the price of oil back up. |

Went to my regular gas station today and filled up for $2.99. Not bad. I'd be fine if gas stayed at this level.
As for OPEC cutting supply, they can try to drive prices up again, but it is going to make alternative fuel look much better with a world economy in recession. If OPEC tries to drive oil back up to $140/bbl I think they will be making a death wish for themselves. BTW I <3 T. Boone Pickens  |

OPEC isn't going to cut output this coming meeting. Their entire countries' economies are tied to the wealth of the individual here in the US and other western nations. When we feel the crunch, we spend less on things like groceries, going out to eat, vacations, etc. which in turn lowers the demand for fuel as we aren't driving to these places (restaurants, stores, vacations, etc) on top of the fact that most of us are already cutting back on fuel during our weekly commutes. If OPEC were to try to cut output to raise oil prices which would then make the already high cost of fuel jump even higher, then they will essentially be slitting their own wrists as it would force even more people to cut back on how much fuel they consume. Add into the mix that OPEC is on the verge of breaking up, and you'll find that oil prices aren't going anywhere but down.

I'm not really sure what the big deal is, the price of goods has always gone up. I don't see why people feel that gas price should go down, when all other goods and services are always going up.
Welcome to profit 101. If people are willing to pay $3.00 a gallon, why should I as a business man sell my product for cheaper? Heck, I might as well see how high I can make the price until people decide they don't want it anymore. Also... I <3 my bike... |
