Brace for fail...

But both Mac and PC are about the same these days and either can be used for any application.

I prefer PC, since it gives me greater control over my hardware selection. I run Windows on my desktop for gaming and Linux on my laptop for general use.

Build your own PC. You can get twice the power of any store bought computer for alot cheaper.

qft

I would like to, but I'm really not sure about whether or not it's actually cheaper. A lot of bundled computers come with monitors, and buying a monitor alone for your custom PC can cost a ton.

Actually, the monitor is one of the main reasons to build, or at least part it out a bit.  Getting a new monitor each time you buy a computer is a monumental waste.

New monitors are obnoxiously expensive, and yet are generally not much better than older ones.  Your monitor should last you several computers.  If you need another monitor, I would suggest buying used.

There are computers that can play games, then there are gaming computers.

It's pretty much the standard for almost any computer sold to be able to run those games. But, unless you own a Mac Pro, you will never be able to squeeze out the highest graphics settings that games have to offer on the current lineup of Macs. While that's fine for most people, others would like the ability to build a computer whose specs will keep their machines usable for a couple of years before having to upgrade. Plus, you are often paying at least 50% for a Mac with the same specs as a non-Mac PC.

My computer can run those games well, but it can barely run Rainbow 6 Vegas on the lowest settings. Neither can it handle Crysis, and it's tough for it to play smooth with FSX (praise demos for saving me money). Basically, my computer can play old games fine, but is far from the current standard. I bet you'll have the same trouble running the games I've tried on your Mac.

TL;DR: The ability to play games does not, a gaming computer make.

May I ask what the point of owning a mac would be then?

Anyways, I choose PC for many reasons.

I would only go mac if I was either doing media work or technologically inept.

Till then, I'll stick with my pc.

Rapidfire: If you are looking for an ultra cheap computer than pachages are the way to go. If you have a bit more money to spend for a LOT better of a computer, you should build your own.

Tolgak: QFT man.
