Update: I got arrested and fined with disorderly conduct and theft of property under $100...oops.

So I walked outside my dorm, and saw the protest at the end of the street where I live.  This pissed me off to begin with, so I walked up right to where the idiots were standing, snuck up behind them, and stole a bag full of signs that they had, and bolted.  I made it pretty far until an undercover cop tackled me into a wall.  Then I was put in handcuffs and brought to the police station for like 3 hours.  The cops agreed with my cause though lol. 

Anyways, I am now accepting donations because I am poor and owe the county about $430 and I have to go to court.

TLDR; the Westboro Baptist Cult.

As much as we all dislike what it is they have to say, we exist in a society and government that thrives on the ability to practice free speech.

Attempting to stifle free speech just because you disagree with it = not cool.

I agree with this.

The WBC is free to say what they like, but they must be prepared for the reactions to what they say. They aren't free from the consequences of their statements, from a mischievous person or a violent whacko. They're lucky this was simply some displaced signage and not a violent attack, which is what they're really begging for some days.

If one of them were killed during their protests I wouldn't mourn, but I would hope that they felt their statement was worth the cost. To be so intentionally inflamatory it had better be.

Edit: And I'm glad you stole the signs. It would have been funnier to have instead replaced them with signs bearing funny statements about their organization. Just walk up with the box of signs and start handing them out to protestors that approach you. Get all riled up and excited for them.

So, if they ever come to my area, I'm wearing my size 26 competition speedo (I wear size 34-36 for regular clothes) and holding up a sign that says "GOD THINKS I'M FABULOUS" with fabulous being in rainbow glitter art.

And then I'll find a lawyer (who will do it pro-bono, obviously) to sue them for defamation of character/slander when they make obscene comments.
