Is there anything cool/interesting about your home town? What is it? Mine is Wharton, NJ. Its a really old (1800's) miner town that turned residential around the beginning of the 20'th century. Only interesting things are: Picatinny Rail was developed in it kinda(In Picatinny Arsenal, which is a Military base and not really listed as being in any town. But is across the road from my town and the kids from it go to my school.)

I was born in Atlanta, but I have lived here for most of my life.
The area I live in was recently changed to the name St. Johns and is no longer an area of Jacksonville if memory serves me correctly. When I want to have fun I go to St. Augustine which is the Nations Oldest City and has several well known haunted buildings. There has been episodes of the show on Sci Fi Ghost Hunters filmed in the area. Tim Tebow played High School football at my local High School, though He was home schooled. |

Tavares, Florida:
Was founded by Alexander St. Clair-Abrams. After fighting in the Civil War, he moved to New York and became the foreign affairs editor for the New York Herald, becoming famous for his coverage of the Franco-Prussian war. Eventually moved to Atlanta but did not do well, so he came to Florida to work for a railway system he owned. Founded the city of Tavares in hope that the state would choose it as a new capitol. It was never chosen. The famous courthouse: ![]() Edited by Man Bites Dog - 11 February 2008 at 6:24pm |

Crown Point Indiana. A city about 35 min from downtown Chicago with about 22,000 people living there now.
On March 3, 1934, Crown Point etched its name forever in the history books as the infamous bank robber and FBI "Public Enemy #1" John Dillinger escaped from the "escape-proof" (as it was dubbed by local authorities at the time) Lake County Jail which was guarded by many police and national guardsmen. Dillinger apparently escaped using a hand-carved wooden gun blackened with shoe polish, although this was disputed by some witnesses. Dillinger further embarrassed the city, as well as then-42-year-old Sheriff Lillian Holley, by driving off in her brand new V-8 Ford. The press augmented her chagrin with such headlines as: "Slim woman, mother of twins, controlled Dillinger as sheriff." Incensed, Holley declared at the time, "If I ever see John Dillinger again, I'll shoot him dead with my own gun. Don't blame anyone else for this escape. Blame me. I have no political career ahead of me and I don't care." This embarassing episode left Crown Point with a blemish that to this day has yet to be removed. Furthermore, Sheriff Holley made certain the Dillinger name would have no standing in Crown Point up until her death in 1994 at 102. Due mainly to her efforts, there is no mention of the "Great Escape" to be found anywhere in the city, save for a brief mention on a National Register of Historic Places plaque outside the old Sheriff's house. Because Crown Point had no waiting period for marriage licenses, the city became a popular place to get married and became known as the Marriage Mill. Many famous people came to Crown Point to be wed including Tom Mix, Rudolph Valentino, Cassius Clay, Jackson 5 patriarch Joseph Jackson and Ronald Reagan Yeah I took the info from Wikipedia but thats about it. |

I totally forgot half the other things.
Marlee Matlin, actress graduated from John Hersey High School
Arlington Heights is an affluent village in Cook County, Illinois and a northwestern suburb of Chicago. It is located about 25 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. A 2003 Census recount gave the village a population of 76,422, the largest for a village in the United States, with neighboring Schaumburg, Illinois not far behind in second place. It is also the twelfth largest municipality in the state of Illinois. Arlington Heights is known for Arlington Park Race Track, home of the Arlington Million, a Breeders' Cup qualifying event; also hosted the Breeders' Cup Classic in 2002. It is also home to the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, which has one of the largest collections in the state, as well as the Metropolis Performing Arts Theatre, Saint Viator High School ([1] home of the 2007 golf champions), and John Hersey High School. |

Fredericksburg, Virginia. Very famous civil war battlefields, not to mention the fact that it was close to the center of DC and Richmond. Both the Battle of Chancellorsville and the Battle of Fredericksburg. George Washington's family lived across the river that I live on. Thats about it.

Glasgow Scotland Aside from being the murder capital of western Europe it's not such a bad place, Good people (for the most part) and a good nightlife. Used to be a major shipping route for Victorian Britain and the main point for shipbuilding and the like but now the shipyards have closed and its just another big city.
