Meh, I saw it coming, hence the title. You kind of accept the risk when you start a topic involving religion, politics, abortion, guns, or sniping around here Edited by stratoaxe - 06 September 2007 at 6:19pm |

I have to agree, Strato definitely has the responsibility portion down that people with a CCW need. Although, Nuclear shows the ideals that some people that have or want a CCW possess. We need more of the former than the latter. Just for a point however, in reference to Nuclear's comment that "that sideways ghetto crap doesn't work like it does on television," you're actually quite wrong. Shooting from your weaker hand, many people, including myself, have been trained to shoot sideways to increase control. Not always ideal for accuracy; however, gun fights rarely occur outside of 7ft. |

So you've obviously been trained to shoot with your weak hand bar your other hand being incapacitated? Please let me know what style of training you had for it. |

You might be surprised-"gangster" shooting is actually a way to disperse recoil through your wrist instead of straight upwards. It makes your ability to recover shots a little better. |

Great for recoil and thats about it, has to be one of the most unsafe things in a heavily populated area, not to mention if you can't take the recoil of a shot or two per second you need to work on your shooting big time. |

I definitely side with Strato, he knows what he's talking about, and obviously had some firing time with his weak hand. Although it may look stupid, it will suprise you.

No, you don't understand-Dune is referring to your weaker hand. If you need to fire multiple shots off one hand (assuming your shooting hand is incapacitated) that isn't used to handling recoil, it disperses the recoil backwards instead of up. It makes it easier to recover shots. Recoil from an offhand shot is generally pretty heavy, even with lower caliber pistols. Of course, if you're just using it to look cool, it's an easy way to scatter your shot pattern from here to Mexico. |

Just as an experiment Nuclear, I'm assuming you've got at least one pistol around you can shoot, take it out and fire it like normal from your prominent hand. Notice that if you've shot even a few clips out of a gun with that hand, you're arm automatically adjusts to the recoil and brings your front sight back down. Now, switch hands and fire a round off. You'll probably notice that your entire arm has a jello sensation, and unless you've been shooting for years, you'll end up jerking your shots way off to the side of that arm. You'll then have to recover from the side. If you turn the gun sideways, it pulls the recoil towards your good arm. Let me simplify this-I'm right handed. When I fire offhand from the left hand, it pulls my second shot way up in the air and to the left. If I turn the gun sideways, it pulls it straight to the right, and back towards me. For alot of people, the latter is far easier to deal with in a situation where multiple shots are needed.

I'm left handed, schools and such often taught right handed ways so i can do most anything with either hand, quite ambidextrous. |
