I've been playing poker seriously for about 5 years. Started just before the whole rage kicked off. I made about $4k on Pokerstars before I stopped playing online.

I no longer play online for money at all, though I do play a lot of live games.

If I'm not mistaken, blackjack is just another type of poker. Could be wrong though.

Uhh... No. Blackjack doesn't have anything to do with poker except it's played with the same type of cards.

"Poker" is a broad subject encompassing many games, but Blackjack isn't one of them as far as I know.

EDIT: As I thought, Blackjack's origins are entirely independent of poker... ()Wikipedia Article

I'm familiar with "3 Card Poker" and "Stretch", but not really sure what you're referring to.

3 Card Poker is similar to Blackjack only in that the players are playing against the dealer rather than each other. Other than that, the rules and hand values are very much like base, 5-card poker.

Stretch is a simple game wherein the player places an ante, the dealer turns two cards, and the player has the option to double his ante (bet) or stand with what he's already got on the table. The payout odds depend on how much span (stretch) there is between the two cards, with the highest odds being if the cards are "one gap connectors", such as a 6 and an 8 (with 7 being the gap). The dealer then deals a third card between the first two cards. The players get paid the specified odds if the rank of this new card is between the ranks of the previous two cards. In the previous example, only a 7 would pay out... But it would be at something like 18:1 if it did hit.

I'm assuming this 2 card poker you speak of is Texas Hold em.

I am not a poker fan, so I just know what the TV tells me. Thats what they tell me the game is called.
Que pasa?

That's not 2 card poker though... Each player has 7 cards to make their best hand of 5 in Texas Hold 'Em. Given 5 of them end up being "community cards" used by all players... And it's DEFINITELY nothing like Blackjack.

I prefer Stud Hi or Omaha Hi/Lo, but I end up playing Hold 'Em more often than not because that's what everyone else wants to play.

Prolly are talking about Texas Hold 'Em... Each player is dealt 2 cards and the remaining cards are "community cards" that are dealt face up in the middle of the table.

Either that or you were watching tournament blackjack, which I've also seen.

I was right...I win. Texas Hold em.

There is 5 more cards on the table though and you have to choose 5 cards between the table and the two in your hand to make the best hand though.
