I'm not bashing 4 cyls.  Most of the cars i'm considering for my next car have 4 cyls.  The others have V6's.  And then the majority of the cars are also Japanese.

I'm considering getting a Subaru Legacy.  I like the fact they are sedans, and have a lot of tuning parts.  Also, they have more horse than my s-10 and get better highway millage.  AWD is a plus, however i'd prefer a rwd.  I'm going to start with respiratory parts first, then move from there.

4 cyl are getting pretty fast now. Put a good transmission on it with good gear ratio, and the thing will go.

Exactly, racing in the middle of nowhere just a couple of guys and a tree lined road is fine, as long as the only person getting hurt is the idiot driving theres really no harm done.

i like pulling up next to just about anything when im on my bike, especially the big trucks.  the ones that are dumb enough to try and cut my off or force me out of my lane get smoked.  and the best part is, they have twice the cylinders, and 6 times the displacement, and im still getting 46 mpg.

You have less engine, but also much less weight.

I used to have an RSX.

They're not fast. Trust me.

Quick, sporty, good handling cars, sure. But not fast. And not a tuner car.

Get yourself an Evo 9, STi, etc, now you're talking a tuning car.

hasn't done anything to make it look different it is just the stock dark green
color it goes fast and sounds good, so you can't just say all "rice" burners
are hideous.

He put a vtec in it? Dear lord. And a new exhaust which makes it fast?

For all of you V8>everything people, it's not about the engine, it's about the builder, and then the driver. Don't kid yourself-I've seen four bangers outrun plenty of V8's.

Exactly! A Subaru WRX STI / EVO are both 4 bangers and will own just about any under 50k v8 car. Tuned/modified, they are extremely fast.

I'll take an empty street over the track, for the sole reason that if i crash, I'll be able to get insurance money. If you crash on the track, you gotta pay it all out of pocket, unless you tow it off the track (insurance fraud.) I don't see the harm in a stoplight race in an empty area with nobody around, but that's just me.

or get pulled over.  And the two are very likely.

Also, you would most likely lose your license.

really worth it?

An insurance spike from a crash would be alot less than me totaling my car on a track, and getting no money. There was a guy on RX8club.com who was doing the quarter mile, hit an oil patch, spun out and crashed his car. Like 10k damage, all out of his pocket.

I have a radar detector and a pretty keen eye for cops, plus many lawyers could get me out of a street racing/speeding ticket. I do it when nobody is around, and I don't have any distractions.

I also received a gift certificate to do a Skip Barber High Performance Driving School course, so I think I'll be pretty safe in my "spirited" driving.

Around me, well not around me but about an hour away where a friend lives, there is a place where he and a bunch of guys meet up and go racing once a night every week.
The desire for polyester is just to powerful.
