A Black Cat Scenario
The air was heavy in the great room of Delta Tau Chi as all the brothers gathered around the thin figure of Winky, the fraternity's PR guy. Winky's brow was covered with a thin veil of sweat as he explained the reason for his nervousness, "Delta House has been Condemned."
"WHAT?!" came the startled cry of all the brothers.
"It's true," Winky continued. "Dean Wirmir announced it this morning.
Delta House has been ruled a public nuisance, and by virtue of a super extra secret bylaw in the dean's manual he has declared that the house is to be torn down in twenty-four hours."
A lone figure crossed the silent room and stood in the dim light of the pizza covered lampshades. His great stomach heaving with laughter, Bluto Blatoffsky cast a raised eyebrow around the room.
"You guys think that this is over? Well do ya?! No! Not yet. Not by a long shot."
Otter raised a well manicured finger to interrupt. "Bluto, what do you suggest we do? The dean has already called out the ROTC to keep us from starting anything. How are we supposed to fight that?"
"D-Day!" Bluto barked.
"Yeah," replied the helmeted figure of D-Day from him motorcycle in the corner.
"You still talk to that bunch of burnouts from the war?"
D-Day looked around sheepishly and then replied, "They prefer the term 'Battle Fatigued Veterans,' but yes, I do."
"Tell them to grab some guns and head over here, pronto. Gefilte Fish, get us some wheels and have some of the brothers convert it for battle."
The chapter president, Hoover, stepped forward. "Bluto, are you saying what I think you are? This could be an all out war."
"That's what it is, Hoover. That's what it's always been. In the eight years that I've been at this college, what has it always been about? I'll tell you what. Dean Wirmir and his stooges, the Omegas, running the show, while we all cower in our smoky beer-scented basements and wait for the day when our time will come, that's what.
"Well, the wait is over. Our time is now. We're going to get up off of our couches that we found on the sidewalk, rise up out of our fried-chicken-smelling easy chairs, and get out from under the pile of crushed beer cans that we've made for ourselves. We're going to take this campus back one building at a time. From the sorority showers to the dean's living room, the halls of Farber College will ring with the cry: They can take our credits, but they'll never take DELTA HOUSE!!"
