Avenged Sevenfold is metal, Bullet for My Valentine is also metal. Trivium is annoying. Atreyu, Underoath, Bleeding through, all screamo/hardcore, defeintly not metal.

If you want energy in a song you cant go wrong with Man O War. They are a bit show-y 80's metal, but the songs themselves are great. Earlier MetallicA and Megadeth, along with Hammerfall will all give you what you want.

Probably not what you are looking for, but...

Demons and Wizards. Fantasy metal. Dead serious.
I first listened to some expecting an ironic chuckle to emerge from my throat, and then turn it off, but I really like it. That scares me a little.

That's as far as I go in the metal category. I'm really not much of a fan, but every now and then...
Its funny cuz' thats not metal.... Its crappy metalcore.

Its by The Human Abstract.  And yes, I agree with you on saying its an awesome song.  Best part is definitly the first minute or so.

Human Abstract has what seems to be really technical guitar, but its not that good. plus they also support that "HxC" scene

I Love that stuff right there, ohhh its sooo good. Amon has some of the simplest guitar but yet its soooo good, and it really pumps you up. Nile is just godly hell they have been around forever.

Now let me open up iTunes ill post back in a sec.

Mastadon, I seen them live at Unholy Alliance with Slayer, Lamb of God, Children of Bodom, and thine eyes bleed. They didn't really do it for me.

Also, here are a couple tracks from my band for those of you who are interested, they quality is so-so, there's no vocals and the drums are fake.

just listened to the first one some of the geet work seems a little squeaky, but other than my little pickiness its pretty damn  good.
