And you have to introduce it to music by giving it only five albums.

I'm thinking We need a wide variety of music, not necessary the 'best' music.
Therefore, my entirely non-scientific conclusion is that these five albums would be given to the alien:
1. Aphex Twin - Richard D. James Album
2. Buena Vista Social Club - Buena Vista Social Club
3. Tom Waits - Rain Dogs
4. Jethro Tull - Aqualung
5. Mos Def & Talib Kweli - Black Star

Cursive - The Ugly Organ
Defiance, Ohio - The Great Depression

Snap, I forgot to add a classical album!

For that, I shall give them Johannes Brahms: The Symphonies. Replacing Aqualung.

Either that, or they'll re-enact Aliens...

I'm pretty sure some people think this is a "name your top five favorite albums" thread. It isn't.

Beatles- Revolver
Lupe Fiasco- Food & Liquor
The Clash- Essential Clash (So many different styles on there alone)
Beethoven- 9 Symphonies
Sigur Rós- Ágćtis Byrjun
u dont know what to do ur getting mottor boatted

So the aliens aren't even here yet, and you're already profiling them by the music they may listen to? WTG Racist.

I agree with Aphex Twin and The Beatles. I think Pictures At An Exhibition (Mussorgsky) is one of the most interesting classical collections, even if none of the movements stand out on its own.
OK Computer
Something angry for variety, Opeth?, Manson? I dunno, not really my thing.
Also some quality rap, Aesop Rock/Atmosphere/Nas.

5 albums is not nearly enough, screw it, just get them those stupid NOW compilations.
