I like screamo a bit better than straight emo, emo just keeps dragging on and on about how someone died or someone's depressed or how someone else got dumped.  Also, many songs are acustic, which dosent really entertain me.  At least with screamo, you cant understand what they're complaining about.

Blue October's demo CD (They started at a local bar). It's completely different than their well known stuff, but still pretty good. I think you could probably classify it as true Emo. They don't have the look or the sound of cliche emo, but their songs are typically depressing...

That's probably cause you're wrong.

They're two genres. Both suck.

I have this ability to completely ignore lyrics. If the music (vocals+instruments+rythm) is catchy, I focus on the collective. Basically, I don't pay attention to lyrics. That's why I'm starting to like some of the bands/songs that many people don't like; I seem to like the way they are played. A good example is Linkin Park. I find them catchy for some reason, but no one likes them.

Edit: Except screamer! I hate that with a fiery passion! No amount of mad guitar skillz could save a screamer song IMO. I don't like Linkin Parks screamer songs...

Lol, Ive liked LP since their debut.  People have just written them off as a band for the wannabe punk middle schoolers, but ive held on to them.  Cant wait for their new album, think its due no more than halfway through next year.  Its kinda wierd, but theres not a single song by them that I havent liked.

I thought there was a forum-consensus the LP words would never be uttered again.

i have only heard of one rammstein song

I hate people like you.
The only "emo" music you know of is probably Hawthorne Heights and Fall Out Boy, both of which are horrendous bands and NOT emo even though they are labeled that because of the modern day "emo" stereotype.

You've probably never even heard real emo music.
I think Benjichang has gotten in this argument with some people before, so he knows what I'm talking about.

Werd.

Bright Eyes, Cursive, earlier Jimmy Eat World (Static Prevails, Clarity), Fugazi, Hot Snakes.

And to add more fuel to the fire to the 'emo debate', some of you may want to read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emo_%28music%29

Pay special attention to the 'third wave' part (which is all terrible music for the most part)

I like how you start by naming two really good bands then you just drop in quality to 0.

I dare say Fugazi is the most talented band in that last.

i have always enjoyed LP

I also quite like screamer song, many times it just takes a bit getting used to, but once you can actully here what there screamer and actully start to listen to how the music is it sounds good.

to someone who dosnt listen to screamer music all they hear is noise, you just gotta get used to it

There is only 2 kinda of music i refuse to listen to...

emo and country

yes, there is a couple good songs in each of those genres but for the most part, i hate them
