I saw this while looking through digg.com. The numbers idea seems like it would help keep the really drunk people off the road.

its a good idea, but it would have to have an override for emergencies, and there are any number of other problems, i think we should make automated cars like they suggest

I'd be nice but I think it would get very annoying after a while.

Not going to sell... that's for sure. drunkie's aren't going to pay an extra 2,000-3,000 for a system that will annoy them.

dont they already have those? i'm pretty sure u have to get one after like your secound or third offense in Canada or maybe just Ontario. I'm not possitive but i've heard of things like this before that the courts will make you put it into your car. |

You get one installed into your ignitation at your cost....yeah. pretty pricey but they can charge whatever they want since you don't have one on your 3rd offense... well, they won't let you have your car

You could get a sober friend to blow into it for you.

Not letting someone have a car doesn't stop drunk driving either. Here in Montana (where I'm fairly certain we are close to leading the nation in drinking and driving*) you can pick up the paper everyday and read about someone who just got their 11th to 24th** DUI arrest while driving an unregistered vehicle without insurance. In some cases they will be going to jail (again), but in many cases all they have ever served is community service or probation. *Probably because every town in the state that has three or more buildings has at least one bar. **Double digit offenders are common-23 previous offenses is the most I ever remember seeing mentioned in the paper. |

Actually someone else blowing into it doesnt work, my cousin tried on his buddies truck after he had to get it installed. For him it was pretty much get it or dont drive again. Imagine picking up a broad and having to blow your car off to go. Edited by little devil - 16 September 2006 at 5:49pm |
