Heh, I don't know about some of your buddies that you go paintballing with but none of my friends have one of those chrono to check the fps. Which is alright because what we do is have the people go about twenty yards and take a shot or two at them with their own gun and if they can't handle it they have to turn the gun down. I don't know about some of you but I think that sounds very fair.

Different people have different tolerancy when it comes to getting hit with paintballs. Some people can take it very well and others can't. Maybe yall should also try to get them to hit a target at the same time. Shoot guns side by side and see which marker can hit a target first and then adjust them. The best thing to do is to have a day where yall go to a field and do your best to keep the settings when you leave.
Me, persoanlly wouldn't trust other people taking free shots at me. I don't think I would trust myself just taking 1 or 2 shots.

I suggest you but a chrono. You can get one for around $100. Just get all the people that regularly play to pitch in.

A chrono checks the feet per second your gun shoots
Like at most fields you set your barrel on the chrono and shoot a couple shots and the ref makes sure you arent shooting to fast

That SOUNDS like it might be a decent idea...deffinitly not. A dude with a high pain tolerance (or just doesnt complain cause he wants to keep shooting hot) can take a shot to the back at 350fps, not say anything and keep it at 350. Then in a game, he shoots someone in the hand and breaks their knuckle?...good times. Or mask too...

I'd suggest going out and buying a hand held crono. just have your friends pitch in together and it won't be too bad. Back when I used to play outlaw a lot(well, used to play) we had enough trouble with people shooting hot. I never had a problem with getting hit at excessive speeds, but what bothered me the most was some guy going out and putting heavy springs in his gun and cranking the velocity all the way up and shooting at about 365fps(we did eventualy crono him) and being able to totally supress you from greater range. sure, a flatline does the same thing, but with a flatline you don't have people terrfied of needing a tracheotomy if they get drilled in the adam's apple.
Face it, you're better off spednding the money on a crono. At less than $100, even if just you and one other sane friend pitch it, in comes to the price of a case of paint. It's a lot better than having people and their parents breaking up your games because little stevie got knocked unconcious/lost a testicle due to high velocity paintballs. Paintballs are freaking heavy, and at close range they can be devestating. Try shooting through a soda can sometime. I personally witnessed somebody kill a turtle with two shots from a Blade, which shoots at about 250fps. Shot right through the toughest part of it's shell. You do not want to add 100fps to that and get it in the back of the grape.
Do not be an infidel dog and rent your neighbors clothing and make his nipples bleed. This is a sin and shall be punished by Allah.

Locked, just like every other topic about guesstimating velocity.
Keep it off here.
