Oh I think all the replys prove that there is a point. Alot, not all, of the posters on this forum are elitists who use "meh" as a way of putting people down. It has become the internets version of a slap in the face. It is everywhere. Because someone has a stock gun and is new to the forums they get a "meh". Same **edited** on other forums. Maybe I should not have titled this thread as "people who say meh SUCK", but it just makes me mad to think of how good people get turned off of the paintball scene, and other things, by asshats who put people down by saying "meh".

Meh isn't usually used as a put-down. It's usually used when someone has nothing to say, or what they wanted to say had already been said.

pb125 you don't really believe that do you? Every post where someone shows a pretty stock gun there are always the token "meh's", followed by "its pretty stock", or, "I don't like it, but I guess if you do".

Your point? Any one who find's meh offensive should put the ole' magnet to the hard drive. And saying "I don't like it, but I guess if you do" is a perfectly fine statement. That forum is there for people's opinions.

i always thought of "meh" as a shrug of the shoulders, and yes stock guns that arnt old pump or like the new markers deserve a "meh" like stock a-5, 98's, spyders, and ion's.

I see "meh" as a shrug of the shoulders in text form.
But if you post it about a gun, I could see how you read it as a put-down.

Edit^^ Dude I typed that before your post was there, and we said the exact same thing

My point is, "meh" is a way of devaluing something. And in this case if a newbie goes to the trouble of posting a pic of their new marker and they get a bunch of relies of "meh", then they are not being brought into the community, but being made to feel like they aren't good enough. Is that what our sport needs? "Meh" shows a lack of maturity and consideration for fellow paintballers. And as far as putting a magnet to my hard drive, if you are implying that this is the way things are everywhere, I disagree. Most forums are though, I'll give you that.

So are we supposed to lie? I honestly don't see where you are going with this. If someone really gets their feelings hurt by someone saying "meh" on an internet forum, they aren't mature enough for the internet. Much less the sport of paintball.

I can see your point. But if people arnt really that impressed with A. What you have said, or B. The pic you posted, then why should we lie to you and be like " OoO DooD thats Sweet!!" when really it deserves a meh...? then maybe we can give that person of an idea of what to post the next time around. IT may not be the nice pat on the back they wanted, but its honesty. So maybe with all the Meh replies you've recieved ( some for sarcastic purpose ) and others for the simple reason that your topic is uninteresting, pointless, and really helped none except to make you a target in the future. So please next time post something we will care about.

And if you were a noob and were proud that you just got that stock A-5, and posted your pic here to show that you had entered the fold, "meh" might make you want to take it back for a refund. But what does that really do for the paintball community? I'm no peace-nik, or tree hugger, or hippy, but I just infuriates me to see the elitists put new people down, or even shrug their shoulders at them, when they need to encourage them and bring them into the community. Our sport will remain relatively obscure if the internet detracts new people instead of attracts new people.

It's a internet forum... We arn't nice to any one here, 'Specialy new guys who think they are some cool with a completly stock gun.

We hate on every one, That way it's fair.

Period, Get over it.

The only exception might be gal's... And that's because they are girls willing to stay in a sea of men chanting "NUDEZ!", and that garnishes respect from most.

You take your ribbings and smears just like all of us do.

And "Meh" is in no way anything to get upsett about.

PAINTBALL1, well if its uninteresting why did you reply with something other than "meh". And why threaten me by saying my post will make me a target in the future? You just prove my point for me. I'm not trying to make enemies here, I'm just trying to open some peoples eyes. I doubt that all noobs are looking for a pat on the back, but something encouraging would be alot better than "meh, upgrade it and then come back". I mean, if you had to save for months for that $229.99 for your new gun, and them someone tells you that you aren't even worthy of posting until you spend some more money, then you probably would either never post here again, and probably give up paintball. Alot of what I hear here are people defending and making excuses for putting people down, and If thats the norm here, things are in a sad state.
