So I went and bought a typewriter. Goodwill. $5. All it needed was a new ribbon, which I got for free. It is an Electric Carolina-Smith SL580. I got it because I have large stacks of paperwork and scholarship forms to fill out. My handwriting, even when attempting to be neat, is horrendous. The last typewriter I owned, was a 1950's model beast that weighed a ton and locked up, and smeared, and had no 1/! key. This one is smooth, electric and quiet. I really really like using it. The best is the sound. CHOOK CHOOK CHOOK. Seriously, the best sound ever. There are some pretty neat gadgets on this thing too. It somehow has a spell checker, I dont know how, but it advertizes that it has one. Also it has the "Correction Button", but it sucks. Does anybody else still own a typewriter,or use one for paperwork?

Thats the kind I had before this one. It sucked. It locked up every fith stroke, and smeared ink with it's old fashioned ribbon.

I used to have one but it crapped out on me. It had that scent of hot glass fuses and warm metal. I would love to have another one. There's something about writing on a typewriter that's so much more appealing than a word processor.

Had one, but it died. It allowed you to save documents you typed if I remember correctly. Also had a correction button that worked flawlessly. Worked for a couple years, then took a crap one day.

I've got an old vintage (1920's - wooden spacebar and all) typewriter that was a birthday gift from my girlfriend and an IBM Selectric II for more practical use. There's nothing more satisfying than typing on a typewriter. It's so relaxing. After a bad day I just write and write and write and always feel better afterwards. |

I just enjoy typing random keys as fast as I can so I
can push the thingy back over and I keep on doing that forever. Great stress reliever. |

I want a good typewriter. My attempts at writing by hand degenerate into crabbed garbage after a page or so in one sitting.
