An on/off pretty much turns the air flow on/off. It will save you air so when you screw in your tank it will not leak out. What kind of switch are you talking about?

^^Hes right all an on/off does is stop the airflow when its off, allow airflow when its on.

You can buy co2 tanks with on/offs installed or you can buy them separate and have them installed.

You could also buy a remote and that has an on/off. It also acts like an expansion chamber and will get the heavy co2 tank off your gun.
