it has nothing to do with the clutch, it has to do with being pathetic if you complain about how hard it is to drive a manual transmission

True dat - anybody who can't figure out a stick shouldn't be allowed to drive at all.

But I'll stick to my compensation theory...   ;)

If the clutch is the problem. There is such thing as an autostick.

Actually, I know a person (the husband of my fiance's boss) who is scared to death of little people. We were all at one of their co-worker's wedding receptions, and when the little person would come within sight he physically shut down from fear. He managed to leave a couple of times to get some air, but the rest of the night was spent with him doubled over, hands hiding his eyes, and breathing deeply to not panic. This man is 6'6" and in his 40's.

Yeah and they suck. If you cant figure out a stick shift, there isnt much reason you need to be on the road. Its not so hard, it becomes second nature. People saying "i like automatic better, i dont see the point of shifting, im too lazy" its so lame. You dont even notice when you shift. Either that or you are entirely too lazy for your own good.

Actually, I have come to appreciate automatics more.  They are SOOO nice for rush traffic driving.  And then there was the time when I had to drive a stick for 3 hours with a dislocated right shoulder...  sure wish I had an automatic then.

Sticks are still fun, but automatic transmissions have improved a lot over the years.  Nice newer cars with decent engines do all right with them.

I drive my stick an hour to school and an hour back. Ive never found myself thinking. "I really wish i had an automatic." But with a dislocated shoulder, i wouldnt want to use my arm at all. The only time it can be scary is when im on a very very steep hill. And even then, its not so bad.

How did Automatic get so far ahead in the poll? Yesterday manual was ahead and has since only gotten like 2 votes...
