The clam, that was the "co-founder" of Quohog, thus why they have the celebration, and peter dressed as a giant clam and swam to shore.

Are you kidding me? The clam lived in a cabin with the founder of Quohog, then they got in a fight and as the clam slept, he stood in the door with a rifle. In the morning he says "I saw you last night" and decides to leave...
