lol those things were a piece of cr@p back then...the tiger tank owns all back then. only reason the m1 would win a tank battle is because germans could only make 3 or 4 tiger tanks a month. the americans can make over 40 m1's in a week. 20 tiger tanks against over 60 m1's. eventaully the m1's will win but the cost will be payed in american lives not german lives. |

Firearms aside, my favorite type of ammunition would be the Raufoss round.

I have one of those Springfield 1903A's in my closet right now. It's really cool.
And THIN RED LINE (I capitalize because my mouse is broken so I can't hit italics) is a very good, forgotten movie, as is THREE KINGS. |

From a war movie listing of reality I would rate the following:
1. Hamburger Hill (little known but closest VN movie to the actual era bravo sierra and the soldiers) 2. We Were Soldiers 3. Saving Private Ryan 4. Blackhawk Down 5. Siege of Firebase Gloria (another R Lee Ermey Classic) On the WW2 tank debate the best German Tank of the war was the PzKpfw V (Panther), best combination of armor protection, mobility, dependability, and firepower the 75mm Kwk 42 L/70 gun (penatrated T-34 front plates at 1000m) considered the best medium tank design well into the 1950's The PzKpfw VI (Tiger) was well armed (88mm KwK L/56) and armored, but too slow, too heavy for european rural bridges of the time, ground pressure too high so it mired easily in wet or loose soil, and motor/track suspension dependability was allways questionable. Basically was a mobile bunker limited to urban, hardpack and paved surfaces. Take a tour of the Aberdeen Proving Grounds Museum and look at these two and compare, the Panther was a modern sloped armor well designed machine, and the Tiger was a slab sided monster |
