I believe I had a stroke of genius this morning while laying in bed and it has to do with goggle systems. thats about all I can say without giving anything away. It requires me to have a patent. How would you go about getting one? What kind of a patent would be filed?
I've checked out

http://www.uspto.gov/

Any tips?

I believe patents cost into the thousands...

You can write a detailed note about the product and everything there is  to the system. Then put that into a letter and mail it to yourself. So if it is created in the future before your able to patent it, this unopened letter that was postmarked that day is sufficient evidence in court.

It's called the Poor Mans Patent.

Yep.  My uncle did that, but his idea sucked.  I forgot what it was.  Something about a self cleaning bird cage or something...

Screw that. I think I'll just go the cheap way.
In fact now that I'm awake it doesn't seem like that good of an idea anymore. Although I know in the future it will be a nessary part of goggles.
