This riddle, i cant figure it out.

A rectangular room measures 30 feet in length and 12 feet in height, and the ends are 12 feet in width. A fly, with a broken wing, rests at a point one foot down from the ceiling at the middle of one end. A smudge of food is located one foot up from the floor at the middle of the other end. The fly has just enough energy to WALK 40 feet. Show that there is a path along which the fly can walk that will enable it to get to the food.

The fly cant fall onto the floor/food and is in the center of the 12' x 12' walls, meaning 6' away from either of the 30' walls. Same with the food. The fly also cant fly because his wing is broken.

To clarify, because people in chat are dumb and dont get it, walls =/= floor/ceiling. This means the fly is 1 foot from the ceiling, 6 feet from either wall and 11 feet from the floor. The food is 11 feet from the ceiling, 6 feet from either wall and 1 foot from the floor.

im guessing you would use the pythagreum therum or however thats spelled (a squared + b squared = c squared) To the the diagnal and use that as a short cut.

A straight line from the fly to the food is 21.62 feet, but that would involve the fly flying/falling.  Seeing as you said this is a riddle and based on the geometry of the situation, my guess is that it can't actually be done, but instead will be accomplished by some kind of loophole.
