Ah yes, I noticed this when I did it years ago.

6 of the speakers and subs run off thier own power. Most the rest run off a reciever that has more then enough to give them all what they need.

Running them all through some kind of monster cable amp deal.

Ive ran them alone, and ran them together, no loss in sound

Gotcha, as long as you have good wire and the sub's have their own power source you should be good.

Still, an amp might be a good investment...

Not to hijack this thread, but can anyone offer a 5.1 surround sound pacakge, nothing to fancy, like $50-$100?
I don't know much about sound, but was looking at this:

750 watts total

(2) cerwin vega floor speakers (12" drivers) fronts

(1) cv center channel

(4) cv rears w/ 6" drivers

(1) jbl 250 watt 12" sub

500 watt pioneer reciever

If i really wan tto get into it i hook up the surround chair with base shaker.  freaky bass

bought a cambridge soundworks setup, two speakers, 1 sub....
 bought two more speakers. rigged two amps i got from my brothers panasonic cd player (300 watts each) into my sub. I also recently built a custom enclosure for my sub, it was in a sealed box but i made a ported box tuned to 29hz. i just need to finish the carpet on the box.

got a altec lansing 5.1 system. the computer is also hooked up to about 11 more speakers, including another subwoofer, which i need a new reciever for.

I use headphones, and my computer speakers for my TV until i get my new one.
The desire for polyester is just to powerful.
